ABOUT DANIELLE

Danielle Russo by Whitney Browne

Danielle Russo earned her Pilates certification with the Pilates Academy International in New York City. Her accreditation ranges from Pilates Mat to the full apparatus repertory (i.e., Reformer, Chair, Cadillac/Tower, Barrels, and Spine Corrector). In addition to her formal certification, she studied with Joseph Pilates protégé Kathy Grant to supplement her dance training at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She furthered her studies in kinesiology and movement analysis with renowned anatomist Irene Dowd while pursuing her masters degree with the Hollins University and American Dance Festival partnership on fellowship. Pilates bridges her love for movement with her keen interest in muscular anatomy and exercise science; a middle ground between her professional dance career and her understanding of gait and postural patterns persistent in her continuing studies.

Danielle has worked with clientele of all levels and lifestyles. She spent several years as a senior instructor at Manhattan's premier Pilates studio, Pilates on Fifth, alongside luxury fitness companies such as Mind Over Matter Health & Wellness and Equinox Clubs. She was recruited to instruct public mat classes at Lincoln Center's lululemon athletica, as well as to accompany professional and pre-professional dance curricula in Europe and North and Central Americas. Presently, she has 14+ years experience training elite dancers and athletes, as well as senior citizens, pregnant women, television/film celebrities, weekend warriors, and clients rehabilitating various injuries. A true believer in functional fitness, Danielle customizes workouts that are accommodating to her clientele's individual health needs and goals. Her current practice specializes in private instruction.

Outside of the studio, Danielle manages her own interdisciplinary performance company, Danielle Russo Performance Project. Her choreography has been commissioned both stateside and abroad. Additionally, she performs with The Metropolitan Opera and serves on faculty at Tisch School of the Arts.
